Carpet cleaning services will provide everything needed for cleaning your carpets, leaving them looking cleaner, feeling softer, and smelling fresher. A wet carpet cleaning service will apply chemicals and shampoo down on the carpet and the machines will scrub this into the carpet fibers. Afterwards, several passes of the machine will rinse the carpet and wet vacuum or extract the water from the carpet. Once this is over, most companies will also give you the opportunity to have the carpets treated for stains so that the fibers have an extra layer of protection against spills and stains. This is usually a good idea and is not expensive.

Inexperienced companies can over-saturate the carpets. If the water isn’t properly extracted, it can lead to problems including:

Wet carpet cleaning will often fully penetrate the carpet fibers getting even the toughest stains out. It will require drying time, though. Typically carpets will dry in 2 to 3 hours after the carpets are cleaned, however this can be sped up with the use of floor fans.
